Ami S. Jaeger and her law firm, BioLaw Group, provides legal services for artists, galleries, museums and creative businesses with an emphasis on negotiations, trademark, copyright and licensing. BioLaw Group is located in Santa Fe, NM.
Jaeger has served as Intellectual Property Counsel to the University of New Mexico, where she managed the intellectual property for the University, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. This included negotiating terms in sponsored research awards, directing institutional intellectual property policy changes, overseeing patent litigation and copyright disputes, and providing advice on all aspects of intellectual property, including internet issues. She has also been counsel on numerous licensing transactions on behalf of the University. Jaeger is a frequent lecturer for art business programs. Jaeger served as an advisor to U.S. Congress and the National Institutes of Health on patenting human DNA and commercializing genetic discoveries. She assisted in policy development for international scientific collaborations.
Her articles for artists have appeared in FiberArts, Santa Fean and The Crafts Report.
Ami S. Jaeger received a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Iowa, and both her M.A. and J.D. from the University of Wisconsin. She has completed course work toward an LL.M. at the University of Wisconsin Law School in bioethics. She completed the intensive Bioethics Course at Georgetown University. She is a certified mediator, receiving her training at University of New Mexico Law School.
